This piece is about transition. It speaks to the spiritual awakening we experience as we discover the small ways we connect to one another and a greater life force. Each circle on the salamander represents one of the 7 chakras: Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, 3rd Eye, and Crown.

Meditation on the chakras helps guide us from one state of being to another. It moves us forward on our journey from dark to light, as well as everyday transitions that lead us toward our desired goals and dreams.

In nature, salamanders begin their life in fresh water and transition to land. This to me is symbolic of our evolutionary past and a hopeful reminder of our evolution yet to come.

The images are represented by areas of flat color with visible brushstrokes. Some area are reflective, so that it changes depending on where the light hits it. The canvas has a central support in back and can be hung from any side, at your discretion. The image continues around the gallery-wrapped sides, so framing is optional. The paint is highly pigmented, hand-mixed high quality artist's acrylic, M. Graham.

Can be displayed vertically or horizontally according to viewer’s taste.
